Ron Zacapa 23 Sistema Solera
Ron Zacapa 23 Sistema Solera
Ron Zacapa Solera 23 is an exquisite Guatemalan rum, made from a blend of rums aged between 6 and 23 years. Instead of molasses, in the elaboration of Zacapa, the so-called "virgin honey" is used, acquired from the first pressing of sugar cane, and it is subjected to a personal aging procedure called Solera System, being stored in a series of barrels previously used to age whiskey.
There are hints of smoky wood, honey, ripe banana, and caramel. Sweet aftertaste that lingers, very pleasing. Elegant. Great fruit complexity, including raisins and apricot preserves.
The fruit impression is followed by a concentrated core of salty oak, nutmeg, leather, and tobacco; hints of coffee and delicate sweet vanilla. The complexity of the Solera system's aging process is highlighted by the top note of honeyed caramel paired with spicy oak.
The secret of Zacapa is its gradual aging in the privacy of the cold lands of the Guatemalan highlands (at an altitude of 2,300 m). This helps slow down the aging process, creating a final harmony between the flavors and aromas extracted during the process.
